  •  Learn fun games to help your students understand the origins of natural resources
  • Learn how to adapt the tool for older and younger audiences
  • The globe helps students meet NGSS for natural resources by addressing how resources are used, where they come from and different types of resources.
  • This class is appropriate for any interested elementary-level educators, targeted K-5th grade, including teachers of natural resources, geography, alternative and special education, and ESL, as well as environmental club sponsors and teaching Earth Day.

It is an engaging, hands-on activity that takes the complexity out of understanding a global environmental issue.

This award-winning STEM teacher workshop includes:

  • Tools and knowledge needed to use the watershed model in your classroom
  • Hands-on activities that address water pollution problems and solutions
  • Support resources to take back to your classroom
  • Information on local water issues including water quality and storm water management

After receiving this training, teachers may check out watershed models from SCARCE.

Trees are vital. As the biggest plants on the planet, they give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilize the soil and give life to the world's wildlife. They also provide us with the materials for tools and shelter. Join us today as we go in-depth and create a one-of-a-kind teaching tool to help your students connect how important trees are to us and the environment.  After this workshop teachers and their students will never look at some everyday objects the same way again, and will be introduced to some unique strategies to help conserve these majestic beauties.

Recycled Papermaking: This program is an exciting, hands-on way for kids to learn how recycled-content paper is made. Together, we mimic the process of industrial recycled paper-making but using our own energy! Each participant will make their own recycled paper to take home to color and decorate as they please. Participants will learn vocabulary such as, hydro-pulping and slurry.

Next, we will learn about landfills and get excited about solutions to solve our garbage problem through a “show & tell” of recycled and reused products. Participants will come away with a better understanding of the importance of, and differences between, Reduce-Reuse-Recycle.

After receiving this training, teachers may borrow the SCARCE papermaking supplies to make recycled paper in their own class.
